A people of the Word

Glory to the King of kings!

This past week the Lord has been revealing more to us about His Word - both His prophetic Word as well as his written Word. Yesterday the Lord spoke to us about how we need to be a people not only IN the Word but also OF the word! This is what He showed us:

God has placed certain conditions for our prayers to be answered:
  • We must remain in Him (John 15:7)
  • Jesus' words must remain in us (John 15:7)
  • We must produce fruit that will last (John 15:16)
  • Our hearts must not condemn us (1 John 3:21)
  • We must obey God and do what pleases Him (1 John 3:22)
  • We must pray according to his will (1 John 5:14)

The Lord then showed us what it means for the Word to remain in us:

  • To remain is to abide, dwell, live etc. (Col.3:16)
  • The Word is not a formula that is to remain in the mind but rather is to be a revelation that is to remain in the heart (Mat.13:15)
  • We need to understand the Word by the Spirit in the heart (1 Cor.2:9-14)
  • The "knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven" is received through spiritual revelation (Mat.13:11, 1 Cor.2:12)

In order to receive spiritual revelation and understanding we must have "a good and noble heart" (Luke 8:15) which means we need to have:

  1. A clean heart (Ps.66:18,19)
  2. A believing heart that trusts the Word (Rom.4:20,21)
  3. An objective heart that receives the Word as it is (John 17:8)
  4. A teachable heart that allows God to change us (Mat.13:15)
  5. A submissive heart that comes under the authority of the Word and obeys it (2 Tim.3:16)

  • Obedience is the key to releasing spiritual revelation, understanding, knowledge and wisdom! (Mat.13:8,12,23)
  • When we obey God's Word we are set apart so that we are of the Word and not of the world (John 17:14-18)
  • Just as "the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us" so are we to be a revelation of the Living Word in us (John 1:14)
  • The believer is in the world but not of the world as he is in the Word and of the Word!

It is when the Word is understood in the heart by the Spirit and obeyed that the Word remains in the heart and the believer becomes a person of the Word.

We praise God for His revelation to us and showing us how to become a people powerful in prayer. Yesterday evening we had another wonderful opportunity to bless the poor and needy at our monthly homeless mission. The Lord glorified His name as He touched people's lives with His healing power as we prayed for them and shared God's Word with them. Hallelujah! God always proves His Word!

Quote of the week:

"If you remain in me and my word remains in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." John 15:7,8

Kingdom People

Glory to God!

This past week has been wonderful! It has been a time of growing in fellowship with one another. On Saturday evening the women got together specifically to build relationships, to pray with one another and to encourage one another. This was an important step in the life of KLF to put into practice what the Lord is teaching us about concerning loving one another and laying down our lives for one another.

As we weren't able to meet at TPLF yesterday, we used the opportunity to meet in two homes. Both groups had a great time worshipping together, praying together, breaking bread together, sharing the Word together and eating together. The Lord is teaching us to have and maintain a Kingdom mind-set as opposed to a church mind-set.

  1. A church mind-set sees the church as an organisation rather than as a people.
  2. A church mind-set has its identity in the denomination or name of the church rather than in one's citizenship in heaven.
  3. A church mind-set passes its responsibilities on to the church as an organisation rather than living out of one's identity and responsibility as a believer.
  4. A church mind-set separates the spiritual and the secular rather than continuously living with Divine consciousness.
  5. A church mind-set is possessive and gives what is comfortable rather than recognising that we are stewards of everything we are and have because we belong to God.
  6. A church mind-set has its focus on the world and on the Kingdom rather than only on the Kingdom.
  7. A church mind-set seeks to bring people to the church rather than bringing people into the Kingdom.
  8. A church mind-set seeks to do good works to please God occasionally rather than being obedient in order to release the Kingdom for God's glory.

Being a Kingdom people means:

  1. We live in the Kingdom of Light. Col 1:13,14; Eph. 5:8,9
  2. We are citizens of heaven. Phil. 3:20
  3. We are in this world but not of this world. John 17:16
  4. We live for one thing: the Kingdom. 1 John 2:15-17
  5. We give everything for the Kingdom. Matthew 13:44,45
  6. We fix our eyes on the Kingdom. Col. 3:1,2
  7. We live according to the Kingdom. Rom. 8:5-15
  8. We live to release the Kingdom. Matthew 6:9,10

The Lord spoke to our other group about being a Kingdom people of faith. A people who are led by the Holy Spirit and who work with Him rather than doing things in their own wisdom. The example was given of Abraham and how Ishmael is the fruit of trying to fulfill God's promises in one's own wisdom rather than trusting in God's wisdom, the fruit of which was fulfilled in Isaac. As a Kingdom people of faith we are called to trust in the Lord every step of the way and to rest in His promises; not rushing ahead and not laging behind!

We are seeking the Lord as to what the next steps are for KLF and we are exploring the possibility of renting a house in Frankfurt that will be both a home and an ideal meeting place for the church for mid-week meetings. Our large meetings and conferences will be held at TPLF or other locations. This new possibility is exciting as it emphasises God's call on KLF to build a true spiritual community - a people who selflessly share their lives with one another for God's glory.

Quote of the week:

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved." Acts 2:42-47

Standing in the River!

Thank you Jesus - Lord of Life!

We praise God for the wonderful things He is doing in and through us! A particular highlight last week was our seminar for teens and adults on prophecy which was run parallel to a workshop for children on how to hear the voice of God. The church spent Saturday together meeting with God and learning from Him. There was a wonderful anointing on our meetings and everyone was greatly encouraged and equipped to hear God's voice and move in the prophetic. We are planning further seminars and workshops to equip KLF to excel in spiritual gifts (1 Cor. 14:12).

Our people are continuing to use opportunities to speak to people on the streets and provide them with food and minister to them. Gradually we are beginning to identify familiar faces and a level of trust is developing which will allow us to speak into the lives of the needy to help them. Spending time with these homeless people is opening our eyes to their very practical needs but particularly to their need for hope and love. We are praying for a premises to meet the needs of these people so that we can direct them to a place where they will find love and care as well as physical and spiritual food.

This week I am meeting with Tobias Von Stosch of Treffpunkt Leben who coordinates the Sunday soup kitchen for the various churches that participate. He and I will be praying and discussing how the Lord wants us to develop this ministry to the poor. We are thrilled to have a hall booked for the 23 December to provide a Christmas meal for the needy and we are excited about how God is stirring our people up to touch the broken and lost in the world!

Yesterday's meeting was very powerful! During the worship the Lord began to sweep across us in waves as He began to reveal His holiness to us. It was breathtaking! Our Lord is so gracious and He is leading us deeper and deeper into His presence every time we meet. God is continuing to speak to us about the River of Revival and yesterday He was showing us how we can stand in the River. Looking at Romans 5 and 6 we saw how, through Jesus we have been set free from the penalty of sin (5:8) and the power of sin (6:11). Hallelujah! The Holy Spirit showed us that the grace in which we now stand (5:2) is nothing other than the River of Life - we are standing in the river of grace! It is in this river of grace that we walk in the Spirit. Glory to God!

Quote of the week:

"God wants to show you that there is a place where we can live in the Spirit and not be subject to the flesh. We can live in the Spirit until sin has no dominion over us. We reign in life and see the covering of God over us in the Spirit. Sin reigned unto death, but Christ reigned over sin and death, and so we reign with Him in life." Smith Wigglesworth
